2022 Frederic Cossard Bourgogne Blanc "Bigotes"
"Bigotes" is not just any Bourgogne Blanc; it is a single-plot wine (lieu-dit) that displays exceptional depth and complexity. The grapes come from a small parcel of old vines (often over 50 years old) located in the commune of Volnay, planted on limestone-clay soils that impart a distinctive minerality.
The 2022 vintage, warmer and more generous, gives this wine a broader texture and notes of stone fruit (peach, ripe pear) and almond, all balanced by the saline tension and vibrant acidity that are Cossard's signature. This is a wine with the structure and seriousness of a village-level wine, encapsulating the purity of old-vine Chardonnay without any fining, filtration, or sulfur.
