Domaine A. & P. de Villaine, co-founded by Aubert de Villaine (co-owner and legendary former director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti), brings the same uncompromising standards of organic farming, low yields, and minimal intervention to Mercurey that define the legendary cellars of the Côte d'Or. "Les Montots" is a unique 1.6-hectare vineyard situated on a steep, south-facing slope with iron-rich clay and limestone soils. These steep, stony clay soils naturally yield Pinot Noir of exceptional structure, depth, and spicy complexity. The 2022 vintage provided ideal ripening conditions, resulting in a wine that combines muscular dark fruit with seamless Burgundian elegance. Vinified with partial whole clusters and aged in oak casks, "Les Montots" stands out as one of the most serious, age-worthy red wines in the entire Côte Chalonnaise.
