Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet, located in Fixin, is one of the most dynamic and universally lauded estates in modern Burgundy. Spearheaded by Amélie Berthaut alongside her husband Nicolas Faure (formerly of Domaine d'Auvenay and Domaine DRC), the estate has risen to rockstar status by crafting wines defined by silkiness, aromatic purity, and unpretentious elegance. This Hautes-Côtes de Nuits comes from high-elevation, limestone-rich plots situated in the hills directly behind Vosne-Romanée. The 2022 vintage yielded beautifully ripe fruit with exceptional freshness and natural balance. Vinified with gentle extraction, partial whole-cluster inclusion, and aged in a combination of concrete tanks and neutral oak, this cuvée punching well above its regional weight—delivering a fine-boned, expressive Pinot Noir that rivals many village-level wines from the Côte de Nuits.
