2023 AURÉLIEN VERDET Côte de Nuits-Villages "La Prétière"
Maison Aurélien Verdet, situated in Arcenant, continues a long family history of organic viticulture started by Aurélien's father, Alain Verdet, in the 1970s. Aurélien adheres strictly to these organic principles, emphasizing natural fermentations, minimal extraction, and minimal sulfur additions to craft wines of extraordinary purity and site clarity. Sourced primarily from the "La Prétière" parcel in Comblanchien—just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges—this Côte de Nuits-Villages benefits from clay-limestone soils that lend both structure and floral delicacy. The 2023 vintage offered fantastic maturity and expressive fruit, which Aurélien captured with partial whole-cluster fermentation and gentle barrel aging. The result is a vibrant, deeply aromatic red Burgundy that offers exceptional value and immediate pleasure while retaining serious aging potential.
