2024 MARC SOYARD (Domaine de la Cras) Bourgogne Monopole "Cras" Rouge
Marc Soyard (Domaine de la Cras), located on the limestone slopes overlooking Dijon, is one of the most sought-after cult growers in modern Burgundy. Having honed his craft alongside Jean-Yves Bizot in Vosne-Romanée, Soyard applies a rigorous, low-intervention philosophy: organic and biodynamic viticulture, 100% whole-cluster fermentations, no fining or filtration, and minimal-to-zero added sulfites. The "Cras" Monopole is the flagship terroir of the estate—a unique 8-hectare monopoles planted on clay-limestone soils with high iron content, mirroring top Côte de Nuits sites. The 2024 vintage captures the benchmark intensity of this plot, combining Soyard's signature stem-inclusive floral elegance with a dense, muscular core of dark fruit. Aged in a combination of high-end French oak barrels (incorporating Chestnut and Oak mix barrels), this cuvée routinely rivals Premier Crus from the Côte de Nuits in depth, complexity, and ageability.
